INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the Hunger Games at Time Won't Forget. The following rules are generally what you would pick out of your game board's box and toss to the side after scanning once and I want you all to know that, that is exactly how I would like you to handle these. Read them over but know that they will be easier to learn as you play and will always be here to refer back to should you forget something! Questions can be PMed to a staff member or simply asked in the cbox! There's no way to get this wrong!

CONDUCT DISCLAIMER

We all must remember that, in entering the Hunger Games, you're agreeing to a lot of unknown, and often, deliberately cruel factors. Gamemaker intervention, be it small or large, is not always just a punishment for having broken a HG rule, though they sometimes will be. If you feel that having something unexpected or unpleasant happen to your character is something you can not handle, it is best not to enter them into the Games.

Good sportsmanship is something we expect here at TWF, aggressive comments about consequences, karma events, other people's character's actions and the like will not be tolerated. In the same vein, rooting in earnest for specific tributes should also not be happening in the cbox. You're welcome to shoot a writer a PM, raise their reputation, let them know you like their character in the cbox, but outright rooting for one tribute over another in the cbox is a nasty thing to do and puts others down.

With this reminder comes a much more stern one. Our members deserve to play with people who respect them, their characters, their stories and both their time and staff's. If anyone is considered to be disrespectful to our members, our Games, or ourselves over nothing more than in Games drama, they will be removed from the Games. Those that desert our Games part way through over upsetting character consequences, rule decisions, karma events, etc. will not be allowed to participate in the following Games.

If you are playing and you have the chance to win but have no desire to do so, please arrange for your character’s death before the Day Four Anthem. While we all love our characters and like to see their stories blossom fully, we need to understand that some characters will die earlier than others and those who are interested in playing out the Games in rolled fights should have the opportunity to proceed and do so. Characters played to support another player’s character to the finale and then write themselves out will not be permitted.

Please note that winning will bar you from winning again until three Games have passed. If you have chosen to take on two slots in the Hunger Games, we do need one of them to die before the Day Three Anthem. Keep this in mind as you play, contact other members or staff if you'd like to arrange for a character's death in either of these circumstances.

REAPING & TRAIN RIDES

Before each Games, staff will post a thread of intent where all players will be permitted to volunteer characters for the Hunger Games, you may list more than one eligible character, ages twelve to eighteen, but usually only one character will be reaped from each player. This list is first come, first served. The staff may permit a second character to those who have asked for one based on past activity and behavior. Additionally, you must have already played one of our Games to be considered for a second character.

Career tributes will only be considered for a volunteer position if they've already had a thread with a mentor, trainer, or peer in the training center in their district. Careers who do not volunteer need a feasible, in character, reason to have been reaped without a volunteer replacement.

Reaping posts will be posted during our pregames phase! Both tributes from each district will be listed in our initial post. Tributes must reply to this thread to take part in the Games. Tributes that do not post their reaping within a week will have their spots reopened. Escorts and victors are highly encouraged to participate as well.

Train threads should be posted by either tributes, victors or escorts, one for each district. It is required for victor's accompanying tributes to the Capitol to post at least once within a train post. Remember that mentoring is required for all victors unless there are multiple victors within the district, in which case you may choose to sit your victor out should someone else be going in. Victors can not sit out for more than two games in a row.

PREGAMES

We will have a calendar month for each pregames so everyone can finish their reapings, trains, training posts, gamemaker sessions, interviews and whatever else you'd like to get your tribute up to! It may be decided that the pregames period extends up to an additional two weeks, owing to character development needs. The in character schedule is as follows:

Day 1: Morning: Reaping. Train Ride. Closer districts arrive and spend the first night in the training center.
Day 2. Outer Districts arrive, prepping occurs, parade in circle city.
Day 3: Training.
Day 4: Training.
Day 5: Training.
Day 6: Interview.
Day 7: Game Maker Session and Scores.
Day 8: Arena Launch.

A thread for gamemaker sessions will be posted during this time. Every tribute will be required to post a gamemaker session to be scored and these will be due around one week before the end of pregames so they can be scored and a bonus attribute, reflecting your tribute's performance, can be assigned! Your character's gamemaker session will be scored on their actions, not on your writing, and will reflect hypothetical gamemakers opinions, not the staff's. Your character's gamemaker score will be added to their max HP. Those who do not post a gamemaker session will be considered inactive and will be killed.

A thread for interviews will be posted along with a list of suggested questions. You may write your characters interview however you'd like to, using our NPC interviewer found here. or you may contact Issy to have a rapid fire post interview with her character Rosalind Richter. You're welcome to pair up with your district partner for this interview or pair up with a Capitol character that would conduct it. A completed interview is not required but will earn HP toward your character's maximum.

An attributes claim will be posted that will be due before the end of pregames. Each player is allowed to claim two attributes from the list! Be careful as there may be attributes that are specific to certain groups of characters. Staff may ask for your chosen attributes to be changed if they don’t seem likely for your character. Make sure that these attributes, along with the bonus attribute from your gamemaker session, are placed in your signature. Characters are limited to ONE roll altering attribute and then any of the others.

Each Games there will be training activities for you to participate in to earn HP for your character. You may sign up for any, all or none of these activities each time. These activities will have a sign up thread pinned in the training forum, as not to be missed, and must be completed before the end of pregames to count toward your HP unless stated otherwise. Please be aware, that if you sign your character up for these and they are not completed, they will result in lowered HP (Gamemakers don’t like their time wasted). These activities are not to be considered the only training your character can do! You may post as many training threads as you wish, doing as your character wishes, within the training center!

HEALTH

Max health will be totaled during pregames. Each tribute will start with a base of 200 HP and will earn more by completing training events, training center treads, an interview, a gamemaker session, and for tribute stats such as age, district, health and previous training.

A checklist and corresponding claim will be posted with each new games and must be completed before the announced cornucopia date or your tribute will enter the arena with a max HP of 200. There will be a calculating example provided for those of us that need a visual! We politely ask that you try to be as accurate as possible when calculating your character’s HP, as although we do check calculations, it makes the process a lot easier for everyone involved. Please keep track of your characters HP as it depletes in the Games, if you need any help, contact a member of staff.

Links will be required in order to earn HP, some will require multiple posts in order to be claimed. This is not to over exert anyone but to be sure that people are actively posting and developing characters during pregames as opposed to posting only to claim HP benefits. Content, not length or quantity, is key.

Health will not replenish on it's own in the arena! Tributes may find medical supplies within the arena that will replenish HP, each item will vary in strength and will have a listed amount of HP when found. You can not use these items and attack/defend in the same post.

Tributes will earn 30 HP for winning a fight. This applies to all surviving victorious tributes of the fight, and is not to be confused with being rewarded for killing another tribute. The 30 HP regained from winning a fight counts for mutt fights and tribute fights. It can only be claimed in group fights and gauntlets at the very end of the thread, there must be a distinctive end of a fight before it is gained. You may gain back this 30 HP more than once in a single thread should one fight end completely before another begins. IE: A mutt fight comes to an end before a tribute fight begins.

CORNUCOPIA

The cornucopia will be your first thread in the Games. A thread will be posted by staff and it will detail the cornucopia, tribute's positions around the cornucopia, and all of the things that your character can pick up as the bloodbath occurs. Please pay attention to the location of your tribute and what the arena looks like when posting.

To determine order for the cornucopia, staff will post a claims list a week before the cornucopia of hour long slots. The first hour of this claim will be broken into ten minute slots, please only claim one of these if you have prewritten the majority of your post and can post them up quickly. First come, first serve. If you are playing two characters your claimed slot will only accommodate one character, you must wait until everyone else has had the chance to post their first post before you may post the other. If you are not picky about your spot, please let us know in the claim. There will be more than twenty four slots, so there should be something available to everyone. If you miss your slot in the cornucopia thread you must wait for everyone else to post and then you are welcome to fall into line in the grace period at the end of the first round.

From the second round on, the bloodbath will turn into a free for all, with just one rule, when you make a post in the Cornucopia, you cannot post again until after three other tributes have gone, any items picked up in posts which break this rule will be voided. Tributes will be permitted, at max, three items from the cornucopia. Those that do not receive anything in the second round forward will be granted a consolation prize/freebie bag. These bags are medium in size.

Within the cornucopia you are permitted to pick up an item or to attack another tribute each time you post, you can not do both within the same post. You are also permitted to exit the cornucopia at any time, including within your first post, but you are not allowed to pick up at item within your exiting post. As you pick up bags, the items within will be unknown, staff will edit the items into your inventory! Bags will contain useful items, benign items and a few very lucky bags may be completely empty or worse.

Any tribute is permitted to start an altercation and any tribute is permitted to finish that altercation.

Bloodbath Part 1 is going to be at 9pm EST Friday night to see how the new time works out for other timezones starting in the 78th Hunger Games. Bloodbath Part 2 will be Sunday night at 9pm EST..

WITHIN THE ARENA

When you post in the Games please use your subtitle to denote what day your thread is intended for, please also note the time of day (Morning, Afternoon, or Evening) for others to better keep track. IE: Day 1 // Morning

You must eat in the arena! Career tributes, who are used to a richer diet, must eat twice a day and drink once. Noncareer tributes, used to a much more scarce diet, must eat once a day and drink twice. Failing to eat will result in a ten point HP deduction during the anthem for each time it occurs, failing to drink will result in a ten point HP deduction during anthem for each time it occurs. Failing both for the day will account in a forty point HP deduction during anthem. Failing to do both for two days in a row will result in death. Tributes do not have to eat or drink during the first day of the Games.

Instead of factoring impure water damage into the anthem, it is the player's responsibility to roll 1d10 for flat damage when their character drinks water that is not pure. You must still report having drank this water in the tracker, and admins will be checking that everyone is complying to this rule.

To find food or other supplies, use a roll of 1d2, and remember that just because you find food does not mean that it's safe! After a successful roll of one you may choose an item from the list in the area descriptions. Use your character's judgement, we wish them the best of luck! You may search twice each IC day. Each search roll has to be in a different thread. You may not search and exit in the same post. Should you search in an area with nothing to find you'll receive a mutt or other such Gamemaker infraction. You are welcome to leave a tag for search rolls in the tag box or tag through jcink's tagging system but please tag a member of staff, not the karma account!

You may carry as many items as you wish, but keep in mind that each bag you carry something in can only hold so many items. Small bags can hold five items, medium ten, and large fifteen, you may carry three things on your person without a bag. If you're unsure about a bag's size, ask. It's better safe than sorry. Anything over those limits will result in gamemaker intervention. Your inventory should be listed at the end of every post, and each bag should be listed with it's size so we can accurately account for this rule.

Your character is permitted to try to hide once per IC day. In order to attempt to hide you may roll 1d2, giving your character a fifty per cent chance at success. A result of one will reflect a successful hide, where a result of two will reflect an unsuccessful attempt. Tributes who are hidden can not be engaged until they move away from their hiding spots or until they engage with another tribute.

From time to time there will be events within the arena like feasts and medical drops, these events will be announced throughout the entire arena by the head gamemaker so that all tributes know and can attend without crazy justification.

One post an IC day will not be considered active, you must participate in the story! Those that are generally inactive within the Hunger Games over weeks at a time will receive gamemaker intervention. School schedules, absence notes and the like will be kept in mind.

COMBAT

Each turn in a fight you may choose to attack or defend. In each post you may attack just one other tribute. Attacking is a simple as writing it IC within your post and then adding a roll in the bottom of your post with your inventory and other notes. The roll code is built into jcink and can be rolled by typing [*roll]1dX[/roll], where the X is replaced with your weapons max HP plus any applicable bonuses. Awareness that attacks may miss should be advised when writing your posts.

Unarmed rolls will be based on age to make them realistic. Your character's unarmed roll will be their age times two. Careers will automatically get to add ten to their unarmed roll. In example, under this system a fifteen year old's unarmed roll would be 1d30, an eighteen year old career's would be 1d36+10.

You may not acquire a new weapon and attack with it in the same post.

Defense rolls will be calculated the same as unarmed rolls but you may subtract the roll from the next attack on your tribute. Defense rolls are to be used in anticipation of the following attack. If your defense rolls is higher than the next attack, the attack is void. If a defense roll is applied to an attack and negates the attack down to 1-9, it is not a miss, that excess should still be taken. You may not attack and defend in the same post.

Defense items can be found in the arena or purchased by mentors and sponsors. These items may last all Games or only for X amount of hits, they make take all damage, a range of damage, or add the the max roll of your defense roll. It is the person in possession of these items to account for those specifics and accurately adjust their HP.

Poison can be found by or purchased for a tribute and can be applied to any weapon. When your first apply a vial to a weapon you must add a roll of 1d10 to the bottom of your post to determine its strength. Poison diminishes by 1 point each turn until it wears off. So if someone uses poison against you and rolls it's strength as 10 you take 10 damage for poison and their attack. Next turn you take 9 for poison and so on until the poison has worn away. Can only be applied once per fight, damage is taken for poison regardless of whether the victim is attacked again or not until it has worn away, poison damage will not be taken if the first attack missed but may be rolled again on the second strike.

You must roll to try to flee a fight, regardless of whether or not your tribute has engaged. Rolls will be 1d2, one being successful and two being unsuccessful. Fleeing tributes are susceptible to one more round of attacks and to being followed after fleeing. You may attack a fleeing tribute without having been previously engaged with them. This roll does not apply should your characters come up with a cease fire agreement.

There can be no more than three attacks on a single tribute before they have the chance to retaliate against those attacks, this goes for fleeing tributes as well. Should the tribute miss their 24 hour window, three more attacks can be waged.

When outnumbered, you are permitted to add a multiplier roll to your attack or defense roll. 1d2 for two on one, 1d3 for three on one or more. These rolls are only for threads in which you have no allies fighting by your side and do not apply in fights like feasts, finales and gauntlets. Roll for your multiplier in the bottom of your post when you roll for your attack of defense. With a result of one you deal only the damage/protection you rolled for your attack or defense, 2 you deal double, 3 triple. When your tribute comes down to a third of their max HP, you are permitted to use a multiplier roll of 1d2. Make note of it at the bottom of your post indicating your multiplier when you roll for it. These two instances do not stack, you may use one or the other. Multipliers extend to defensive posts as well with the same rules.

While we prefer rolled fights, if a player asks to write out the the remainder of a fight without rolls as their character will die in the end, it should be granted. In this case the player who's character is going to die should make their request in their notes so we all know what's going on. Tributes do not get the 30HP addition to their HP for fights that end in this fashion.

Every attack roll under a ten (1-9) will be considered a miss. Any attack resulting in a multiple of eleven will stun your opponent and make them incapable of attacking, defending, medicating or fleeing in their next post. Remember that a stun is a stun and a miss is a miss regardless of whether or not armor/defend roll negates part of the attack or a multiplier is rolled on the original number.

Forced fights are sometimes scheduled in advance, sometimes spur of the moment, and usually to keep things rolling. You have a better chance at being in these fights if you're scraping by on minimum posting or if your character has done nothing but wander without event. Of course, if you have an away posted, or anything along those lines, this may not apply to you.

SPECIFICS

You must have posted three posts in a thread before you’re allowed to exit. You can spend more time in each thread than this if you’d like. Be mindful of your content, posts with very little content, posted quickly, will result in a Karma consequence. We will never have a word count but please make sure that even shorter posts are meaningful. Please take area size into consideration as well. It’s unlikely for tributes to move quickly from area to area in bigger arenas. After exiting your thread you must be in a new thread within 24 hours. All threads are open threads, and any tribute can join in. In a combat thread your turn can be skipped if you take longer than 24 hours to post.

At the bottom of every post it is required that you include your character's current HP and their inventory. Any rolling should be done here so that it's easily located and should be properly labeled so we all know what it's for (ie. Attack on Shiver(Tribute name), Search, or Defend). You may also list things like current injuries, out of character notes, their token, or what have you.

Each IC day in the area is an OOC week. At the end of each week staff will post an anthem announcing deaths, lack of food HP deductions, food poisoning, arena events, and other important information that may or may not impact your tribute. It is important to look over these. The anthem will be posted at 9pm EST Saturdays. You must be in a new thread for the next in character day within 48 hours of the anthem (Monday 9pm EST)! You're welcome to continue any previous threads you've not finished as long as you're in a current one as well. Once the anthem has been posted further searching, eating or drinking for the previous day is not permitted.

Staff will post a couple threads in the arena forum of each Games where each player must keep track of their tribute and their tribute's food intake. You must respond to these threads with links to all other threads you've been active in within the arena. This is not only important so that our story lines can be followed but helps tremendously when it comes to posting anthems and calculating deductions. Failure to reply in these threads may result in gamemaker intervention.

There will be only one victor each Games. Twenty three tributes will die each Games. If you are not willing to part with a character, don't enter them. All of our feels will be hurt by the end of every Games, guaranteed, but we don't want anyone to be upset with losing. This is a game but it is not a competition, we are here to write. Do not play to win or lose, play to play! If you insist on playing to win, here are some categories you should be gunning for that big W in: most feels, best plot twist, best death post and making Shiver cry.

DONATION SHOP

In our claims section, a donation shop thread has been set up. There you can earn points for IC posts, referring friends, helping other members with graphics, picking up a wanted character and other things that benefit our community! These points will be totaled on your OOC account, you can see them when you hover over your OOC av and you can see them on you OOC account profile.

Spending these points will happen in the same thread. You can use your points to purchase items for tributes inside of the arena. You may not purchase an item for your own tribute and any purchase you make must have an IC relationship behind it - a mentor, stylist, escort, family member, etc. Capitol characters will be permitted to donate to whichever district they wish, whereas mentors/stylists/escorts are permitted to donate only to their own district. Please do not use this as a device to donate to your allies and friends exclusively. A thread with more than 3 posts per character must be submitted as proof of relationship whether it is a mentor, Capitol citizen, etc. Capitol citizens should have a relationship thread with the tribute they are donating to or their mentor/stylist/escort if interaction with the tributes themselves is unlikely. You are welcome to transfer your funds to another player's bank. We'd like to keep this system as in character and as accessible as possible.

One donation per tribute, per day, is permitted. Donations are not permitted to be purchased until receiving tributes have used both of their search rolls. Characters that purchased the donation are responsible for posting that donation within the arena and you're welcome to send IC notes along with it! Every games the list of what you can buy for the tributes will change, always centering around what can be useful in the current arena. If there is something you wish to send that is not on the list, contact a staff member and haggle! We may add the requested item to the list. These donations should be supplementary and not depended upon.

Weapons will be on the list every games, but will be restricted and only purchasable by career mentors, IC these are the only characters with both the funds to purchase them, and the knowledge of how well their tributes can use which weapons. Rolls for these weapons will be determined by staff.
